Is New Orleans in the US or Bangladesh?

I am absolutely appalled by what I have seen on the TV over the past several days.  Poor, mostly black, people stuck in a flooded city.  And where is the almighty powerful US Government?  Nowhere to be seen until fours days after the hurricane is gone!!!  I am embarrassed by the ineptitude of it all.  If this occurred in Beverly Hills, you can bet that multiple helicopters would have been in the air as soon as it was safe.  Even just today, four days later, there are only 30 helicopters for the entire New Orleans area!

There is talk on all the talk shows about why this is the case.  Bush sent all the National Guard to Iraq, the local government screwed up by not taking care of business; Bush cut the money to the Army Core of Engineers.  Who knows how it happened, but I blame Bush.  There is no doubt that a lot more resources would have been available if so much money and manpower were not tied up overseas.

What scares me is the fact that if this had been a terrorist attack, the results probably would not have been much better.  What is going on with Homeland Security?  How secure are we if we are not prepared to deal with a hurricane, in hurricane country, during hurricane season.

I jusr hope a catastrophe does not happen where I live any time in the near future, because it seems obvious to me that our government is not prepared to deal with it.
